No One Owns the Internet
No one person, organization, company or entity owns the Internet.  It's spread out over hundreds of countries.  This, in actuality, is really one of the most highly prized qualities of the Internet, but it leaves open a wide array of problems, as users of other ISP', especially those in other countries, may have little or no restrictions on acceptable use.

Internet Access Can Create Potential Problems for Families and Children
The unregulated nature of the Internet leaves parents and families with the potential situation of having their family members and children being exposed to offensive material just by doing simple Internet activities such as searching for a desired topic.

No One Censors or Controls the Internet
There is currently no legislation preventing pornography or other offensive material from being accessible via the Internet.  There have been attempts by legislation to censor or control potentially offensive content, especially in light of the fact that minors have access to offensive and potentially harmful material with the click of a mouse.   However, little regulation is in place today.  Although no one entity controls of filters the Internet and its content, the web site
http://www.rsac.org/ is an organization dedicated to rating Internet sites and their content.   This rating can be easily used to "Filter" a site with undesired content.

Is There A Solution to this Problem?
Yes!  There is and it's called "Internet Filtering".   Internet filtering simply means screening out potentially offensive material through use of third party software.  Filtering can keep your family from being exposed to potentially offensive material easily and effectively.  The easiest way to filter you Internet access is by installing  an Internet filtering software package.   They are relatively inexpensive and easy to install and use.  Your Internet access from Hawk Internet Services can be filtered using a third party software package.   However, Hawk Internet does not provide technical support for 3rd party software packages and does not filter any content on the Internet.  Listed below is a compilation of Internet Filtering Software sites.  If you have concerns about your family having access to potentially offensive material, you should consider visiting the sits below to find the software that suits your needs.
